The authors of our text write, “It is important for clients to know that disclosures in therapy sessions will be protected; however, you cannot promise everything clients to talk about will always remain confidential. In this chapter, we consider the ethical and legal ramifications of confidentiality and explore the process, importance, and impact of informing your clients from the outset of therapy of those circumstances that limit confidentiality.”
