The women that this paper will be focusing on are Moderata Fonte and Lucrezia Marinella. Moderata Fonte and Lucrezia Marinella were writing during the late 16th century and the early 17th century in Venice. Many of their pieces included debates about men, women, marriage, motherhood, and what it meant to be an intellectual. Women writers throughout the Renaissance are often overlooked and not recognized nearly enough in education today. These women were pushing against the status quo and wanted their voices to be heard. These women were considered radical for their creative expression and their mindset about education and writing served as a catalyst for young women in education during the Renaissance. Moderata Fonte and Lucrezia Marinella were talented female writers who should have a greater historical presence in society because of their literary accomplishments. Their writing in the Renaissance is still prevalent in modern-day society specifically relating to its relation to the modern-day feminist.
