Types of psychoactive drugs

Pick a drug or substance from the six types of psychoactive drugs.  With the drug you have chosen, provide the following information:

1. Describe the ways it can be taken.

2. Are there any differences in the effects based on the dosage or amount taken?

3. Is it possible to overcome an addiction to this substance?

4. How could you help a friend if they were addicted to this psychoactive drug?

5. Typically people who have addictions are addicted to either alcohol or a tobacco product.  Find an advertisement for an alcoholic product and an advertisement for a tobacco product.

6. What psychological techniques are used to sell the products?

7. Do you think its ethical to sell a potentially dangerous substance by appealing to people’s desires and vulnerabilities?

8. Do you think manufacturers ought to be held responsible for the damage their product inflicts on some people.  Be sure to explain your reasoning!
